D&D unveils ‘Rage of Demons’ storyline featuring Drizzt
|
Welcome back, Drizzt Do’Urden.
Dungeons & Dragons will delve into the Underdark this year with the release of “Rage of Demons.”
The third storyline for D&D’s 5th edition will hit this fall as as demon lords such as Orcus and Demogorgon ascend from teh Abyss. Players will delve into the shadowy Underdark alongside the iconic dark elf ranger, Drizzt, to fight back against the demon lords and save the surface world.
Uh, yeah! Sounds like a blast, and the natural place to go after defending the Forgotten Realms against dragons and elemental forces in previous storylines.
“The already dangerous caverns below the surface are thrown into ultimate chaos, madness and discord,” read a press release. “The renegade drow Drizzt Do’Urden is sent to investigate but it will be up to you to aid in his fight against the demons before he succumbs to his darker temptations.”
Count is in.
With its 5th edition, D&D has concentrated on specific storylines that span across all its products (the tabletop RPG, videogames, books, etc.). They’ve used the storylines to introduce additional monsters, races, classes and other elements to the game rather than piecemealing them out through new rulebooks, which some derogatorily call “splatbooks.”
As with previous storylines “Tyranny of Dragons” and “Elemental Evil,” an array of product releases will accompany the next event.
“Out of the Abyss” will be the next big D&D adventure for the tabletop RPG and it will outline all the demons you’ll want. Also expect minis and other products from Wizkids, Gale Force 9 and Fantasy Grounds.
New content for the “Neverwinter” MMO will be forthcoming as well as content for the upcoming “Sword Coast Legends” video game.
R.A. Salvatore, the creator of Drizzt, will pen a new novel, “Archmage,” that will “really get into the mind of Drizzt.”
It sounds like another epic adventure. What are your thoughts on “Rage of Demons?”
